Saucepan without PFAS - what that means
A saucepan without PFAS at Cook & Pan is a saucepan with no PFAS, PFOA or PTFE anywhere. Not in the coating, not in the base material. Whether it is 3-ply stainless steel or aluminium with ceramic non-stick coating - when warming sauces, milk or poaching an egg you do not have to worry about synthetic polymers in your dish or in the kitchen air.
What is PFAS and why choose a saucepan without PFAS?
PFAS stands for per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances, a group of synthetic chemicals used since the 1940s in non-stick coatings, water-repellent clothing and food packaging. The substance is known under names like Teflon (PTFE), GenX and PFOA. PFAS barely breaks down in the environment and accumulates in humans and animals. A saucepan you often use for milk, sauces or small portions for kids; that is exactly where you do not want a synthetic coating.
How do you make a saucepan non-stick without PFAS?
There are two ways to get non-stick performance without a synthetic coating in a saucepan, and we use both:
- 3-ply stainless steel - no coating, no risk of wearing off. With the right heat sauces and milk release; ideal for reducing.
- Aluminium with ceramic non-stick coating - the coating is made of silicon oxide. Lightweight, fast to heat and smooth non-stick for milk and delicate sauces.
Neither contains PFAS. Which suits you depends on what you make most.
Our PFAS-free saucepan variants
- 3-ply stainless steel saucepan for reducing sauces, hollandaise and anything where you want control over the boiling point.
- Aluminium saucepan with ceramic non-stick coating for warming milk, sauces where nothing should stick to the bottom and small portions of pasta or porridge.
Saucepan without PFAS on every heat source
Our PFAS-free saucepans work on every heat source: induction, gas, ceramic and electric. Stainless steel is naturally ferromagnetic, the aluminium pans with ceramic coating have a ferromagnetic base plate baked in. Move to a different kitchen and your saucepan comes along.
Care without coating worries
Stainless steel is dishwasher safe. For the ceramic coating: let the pan cool down before rinsing, use wooden or silicone spatulas and avoid steel wool. Warmed milk and there is a layer left? Rinse straight away to prevent burning on, that saves scrubbing later.
The Cook & Pan PFAS promise
We never use PFAS, PFOA or PTFE in our coatings or materials. Our saucepans come with a 7-year warranty on manufacturing and material defects and a 2-year warranty on the function of the ceramic coating. Want to try a pan first? You have 60 days of try-cooking to test it at home and still send it back if it does not suit you.

- Is a saucepan without PFAS oven-safe? Stainless steel almost always, aluminium with ceramic coating up to a certain temperature. Check the product page.
