Want to try something unique? We’re going French with a delicious raw steak dish seasoned with Worcestershire sauce, Tabasco, and mustard!
Raw meat? Yes, that’s right. You can definitely eat this even if it sounds a bit strange at first. If you get your beef from the butcher, you know it’s quality meat, so stick to that. Raw meat from the supermarket is really a no-go in this case. Extra tip: tell your professional butcher that you want to eat the meat raw, so you get a double check and everything should be just fine. Then you can start well prepared with this delicious recipe.
Ingredients for 2 people
- 200 gr steak
- 1 teaspoon drained capers
- 2 pickles finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Tabasco to taste
- 1 shallot finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon mustard
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 egg yolks
- A small handful of freshly chopped flat-leaf parsley
Preparation method
- Put the meat mixture in a bowl with the chopped pickles, shallot, parsley, and capers. Mix well.
- Add the Tabasco, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and salt & pepper and mix well. Taste to see if the seasoning is right and add more of the above seasonings if needed.
- Shape the steak tartare using a serving ring. Place it on a plate and put half of the tartare mixture inside. Press it firmly with a spoon and carefully lift the ring up.
- Serve the steak tartare with an egg yolk and some pepper and salt.
Don’t want to use raw egg? No problem! Put a small pot of water on to boil, add some olive oil to a soup spoon and carefully place the egg yolk in it. Cook the yolk gently by placing the spoon in the water.
Then serve it on the steak tartare with some freshly chopped parsley.
Enjoy your meal!
