Pan does not work on induction, even though it is induction compatible

Pan werkt niet op inductie, terwijl het wel inductie geschikt is

Pot or pan doesn’t work on induction, even though it’s induction compatible

You just took your brand-new Cook & Pan gem out of the box, eagerly put it on the induction hob... and then nothing happens. No sizzling sound, no bubbles in the pot or pan. Sounds like a panic moment, but usually it’s nothing to worry about. We’ll guide you step by step – because our pots and pans are made for induction. You just need to know what to watch out for.

Illustration: the right match between pot or pan and cooking zone

A small pot or pan on a large cooking zone? Or the other way around? Induction hobs don’t like mismatches. Make sure your pot or pan matches the size of the zone – that’s the difference between staying cold or cooking like a king.

Correct placement of pot or pan on induction zone

Induction = magic with magnets

Induction isn’t a fire show, but smart technology. The hob itself doesn’t heat up – the induction pot or pan does that thanks to magnetism. No click? Then the hob doesn’t recognize the pot or pan. That can be due to the size of the base or the placement.

Boost your cooking fun with the right zone

Some cooking zones simply have more power than others. Small zones = less power = slower heating. Got a boost function? Give it a try. And if your water just keeps staring without bubbling: test a bigger zone.

Mini base, maxi problem

Did you know many induction hobs require a minimum diameter? If the bottom of your pot or pan is too small, the hob acts like there’s nothing there. Smart tip: grab a pot or pan with a slightly bigger base or switch to another cooking zone.

The golden magnet test

Wondering if your pan is really magnetic? Test it yourself easily: grab a fridge magnet and hold it against the bottom. Does it stick? Great. No stick? Then it might not be an original Cook & Pan – and you probably don’t want that.

Heads up: is your pan sitting right?

  • Make sure the pan is well centered on the cooking zone.
  • Check if the bottom lies completely flat and makes contact.
  • Give the pan a little nudge if the hob does nothing.

Don’t forget the settings

Some induction cooktops have smart heat controls or child locks that affect how they work. Check if you’re accidentally cooking in ‘vacation’ mode. Consult your hob’s manual – yes, that boring booklet has its moment of glory too.

Is your hob older than your recipe book?

Older induction hobs sometimes struggle with modern pots and pans or smaller sizes. No panic – that doesn’t mean your pan is broken. Try it at a neighbor’s or in another kitchen. Who knows, it might just do its trick there.

And what about our pots and pans?

All Cook & Pan pots and pans are induction-proof as standard. Made from sturdy, magnetic material and equipped with a scratch-resistant ceramic non-stick coating. No PFAS, no fuss – just pure cooking pleasure. The latest batch of pots and pans also features a weighted bottom, so they make even better contact with the hob.
