The key to perfect Brussels sprouts is to cook them very briefly. Anything longer than six minutes is probably too long. Unless you like soft Brussels sprouts.

Cooking Brussels sprouts
Cooking Brussels sprouts is super easy and not time-consuming, we’re happy to explain how to make the best Brussels sprouts. With the tips below the preparation method, you’ll definitely succeed in making the tastiest Brussels sprouts.
- Cut off the hard ends and remove any leaves that don’t look good from the sprouts.
- Then wash the sprouts in water.
- Put a cooking pot on the stove, add salt, and bring it to a boil.
- Once the water boils, you can add the sprouts. After 6 minutes you can take the sprouts out. (Do you like softer sprouts? Then let them cook for about 8 minutes.)
- Drain the water and optionally serve the Brussels sprouts with butter and pepper.
Chef’s tips:
- Got smaller Brussels sprouts? Then cook them a few minutes less.
- Don’t make a cross at the bottom of the sprouts, it’s pointless. Your sprouts will taste less good because water gets inside.
- Are the sprouts part of a big dish? Then prepare the sprouts last so they stay nice and warm and fresh.

How long to cook Brussels sprouts? This depends a lot on their size. On average, you cook Brussels sprouts for about 6 minutes. If you bought small sprouts, 3 minutes works fine too.
Brussels sprouts in the Airfryer
Brussels sprouts in the Airfryer is a great idea! They’re healthy and deliciously crispy to serve with your dish. Trim the sprouts and clean them in water. Drizzle them with oil and some spices, then put them in the Airfryer for 5 minutes at 200 degrees. Shake the sprouts around in the Airfryer and let them cook another 5 minutes at 200 degrees. Not crispy enough for you? Then you can do one more round of 5 minutes at 200 degrees in the Airfryer.
Chef’s tip: A combination of Brussels sprouts in the Airfryer with bacon is delicious! The pre-cooked bacon can easily go in the Airfryer too.

Cooking frozen Brussels sprouts
You can cook frozen Brussels sprouts directly. But the tastiest way is to thaw them first if you have time. If you cook them frozen, a lot of moisture stays inside the sprouts and they will lose flavor.
