Ceramic casserole pot: braising without anything sticking
A ceramic casserole pot from Cook & Pan has a smooth non-stick coating made from minerals, without PFAS, PFOA or PTFE. On our cast iron dutch ovens that is a layer of enamel: glass fused onto the cast iron. On our cooking pots it is a ceramic coating on aluminium or stainless steel. Either way, gravy, sauce and braised meat come away without scrubbing, and nothing from the coating ends up in your food, even after hours of simmering.

How does a ceramic non-stick coating work?
The ceramic coating on our cooking pots is made of silicon oxide, a mineral also found in sand and glass. It is applied to the pot at high temperature and cured into a hard, smooth layer. Enamel on cast iron works the same way: a layer of glass fused to the iron at very high temperature. No plastic and no polymer, so no coating that slowly peels away.
Which ceramic casserole pot suits you?
- Enamelled cast iron dutch oven, 20, 24 or 28 cm: the real braising pot. Holds heat for hours and goes in the oven and on the barbecue. Also as a 2-in-1 with griddle lid and as a 2-piece set.
- Cooking pot with lid and ceramic coating, 20 to 24 cm: light aluminium, quick to heat, glass lid. For sauce, soup, rice and shorter braises.
- Honey cooking pot with lid in stainless steel: the same ceramic coating on a sturdy stainless steel body with an extra-thick base. Scratch-resistant and made for induction.
The benefits of cooking with a ceramic casserole pot
- Little fat needed: a tablespoon of oil is enough for searing.
- Easy to clean: cooked-on gravy comes away after a short soak in warm water.
- Nothing in your food: the coating contains no PFAS, PFOA or PTFE.
- Deep and roomy: a high wall for large pieces of meat and plenty of liquid.
Which hobs does a ceramic casserole pot work on?
The cast iron dutch ovens and the aluminium cooking pots work on induction, gas, ceramic and electric hobs. The Honey cooking pots in stainless steel are made for induction. Cooking on induction? Take a look at our casserole pots for induction too.
Who is a ceramic casserole pot for?
For anyone who braises, stews and simmers: beef stew, curry, bourguignon, a whole chicken or a vegetable stew. If you mainly want to cook low and slow and then go into the oven, choose cast iron. If you more often make sauce, soup and quick braises and like a pot you can lift easily, a cooking pot with a ceramic coating is the better choice. For everyday frying, look at the ceramic frying pan, and everything for soup and pasta is in the ceramic cooking pot range.
Keeping your ceramic casserole pot smooth for longer
A ceramic coating is hard, but it doesn't like shocks. Let the pot cool down a little before rinsing it, use wooden or silicone utensils and preferably wash by hand with a soft sponge. Dry cast iron straight away. The cooking pots can go in the dishwasher, but washing by hand keeps the coating looking good for longer.
How long does a ceramic casserole pot last?
The cast iron dutch ovens come with a 25-year warranty. The cooking pots with a ceramic coating have a 7-year warranty on manufacturing and material defects and a 2-year warranty on the performance of the coating. With the right care you'll be braising in it for much longer still. Want to find out first whether it suits you? You get 60 days of try-cooking.

Frequently asked questions about ceramic casserole pots
Is an enamelled cast iron dutch oven ceramic too?
Enamel is a layer of glass fused onto the cast iron. It behaves like a ceramic non-stick coating: smooth, PFAS-free and resistant to high temperatures. That is why our cast iron dutch ovens are in this collection too.
Does a ceramic casserole pot contain PFAS?
No. Not in the enamel of the cast iron and not in the ceramic coating of the cooking pots. No PFOA or PTFE either.
Does a ceramic casserole pot work on induction?
Yes. Every casserole pot and cooking pot in this collection has a magnetic base and works on induction.
Can a ceramic casserole pot go in the oven?
Cast iron can go in the oven up to 280 °C, with the lid. For the cooking pots with a glass lid, the product page states the maximum oven temperature.
Why does my ceramic casserole pot stick?
Usually the heat is too high when searing, or there's a thin film of burnt-on fat on the base. Sear on a medium setting and clean the pot thoroughly with warm water and a soft sponge. Then everything will come away again.
Can I try a ceramic casserole pot first?
Yes. You get 60 days of try-cooking. If the pot turns out not to suit you, just let us know.
